BRIAN
MARKOWICZ
Brian
Markowicz brings 20 years of goalie
experience with him to the Between
the Pipes team. He grew up playing
in the Southfield hockey system.
While in Southfield as a first year
Bantam he attained the record for
the number of shut-outs in a season
at the age of 13; he had 13
shut-outs. Moving onto Little
Caesars where he played against
friends and future college hockey
players for the University of
Michigan, Western Michigan, Ferris
State, Michigan State, etc. This
took him to Novi High School where
he played 2 years of Varsity Hockey.
At Novi, he learned under three
great coaches: Dan Phelps, Dave
Zarem, and John Smith. There he
aided the team in a 19-3-6 record in
the 1999-2000 season. That year, the
Wildcats made it to the state
quarter finals in their second year
of existence as an organization to
the school. The following year he
helped lead the Wildcats to a 23-4-1
record on the way the state
semi-finals. After high school he
went on to play a year at Ferris
State University under Bob Daniels.
His highlight of that year was
defeating University of Michigan at
Yost Arena 5-3. After his one year
there he made the trek to Kalamazoo,
where he played two years for the
Western Michigan Broncos as a
back-up goalie. When these two years
had been completed, he felt the need
to leave and continue his studies at
Eastern Michigan University, where
he was asked to play hockey for the
Eagles. He was a part of that team
for two years. While at Eastern
Michigan, he played one year with
Jeremy Kalenieki. Brian is currently

decided that the ice is where he
need to be so he went out for his
high school team, making the JV team
and selected as the JV Captain, he
lead the division in points. Brandon
made the varsity squad his junior
year and again lead team, finishing
second in the division in points.
Brandon also broke school records
inclding most goals in a game as a
junior. Brandon's senior year
responsibilities included being team

transitioned to the ice he's been a
team leader... (One reason we've
added him to our staff!) Brandon's
strong points include leadership,
strong on ice vision and ability to
