Brian Markowicz brings 20 years of goalie experience with him to the Between the Pipes team. He grew up
playing in the Southfield hockey system. While in Southfield as a first year Bantam he attained the record for the number of shut-outs in a season at the age of 13; he had 13 shut-outs. Moving onto Little Caesars where he played against friends and future college hockey players for the University of Michigan, Western Michigan, Ferris State, Michigan State, etc. This took him to Novi High School where he played 2 years of Varsity Hockey. At Novi, he learned under three great coaches: Dan Phelps, Dave Zarem, and John Smith. There he aided the team in a 19-3-6 record in the 1999-2000 season. That year, the Wildcats made it to the state quarter finals in their second year of existence as an organization to the school. The following year he helped lead the Wildcats to a 23-4-1 record on the way the state semi-finals. After high school he went on to play a year at Ferris State University under Bob Daniels. His highlight of that year was defeating University of Michigan at Yost Arena 5-3. After his one year there he made the trek to Kalamazoo, where he played two years for the Western Michigan Broncos as a back-up goalie. When these two years had been completed, he felt the need to leave and continue his studies at Eastern Michigan University, where he was asked to play hockey for the Eagles. He was a part of that team for two years. While at Eastern Michigan, he played one year with Jeremy Kalenieki. Brian is currently completing his final year at EMU for Secondary Educational Studies. In addition to his education; Brian played a three week stint with the Wooster Warriors, of the MAHL, and then headed south to Fort Myers, FL., to finish the season with the Florida Everblades, of the ECHL! The Florida Everblades are the NHL Affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes and Florida Panthers.
Danny Venet joins the BTP Support Staff and brings with him the knowledge gained through years of competitive development. We are fortunate to have Danny on the ice as a Senior Staff Goalie Instructor for the 2007 clinic season. Danny’s been coaching goalies for the last five years in both clinic/camp and private lesson environments. While Danny provides our students with his insight and innovative instruction, he’ll also be preparing for his up coming season at ACHA Division 1, Robert Morris college. Danny’s played advanced level competitive hockey since age nine, advancing to the Juniors and now moving into his collegiate career.

Dan Speck
Dan's hockey experience has been on the fast track since he was a Mite! Excelling at every level of travel through high school, and seeking challenging training during the off season... Plus, a summer working for another established instructional program, Dan's knowledge base exceeds his years and that's why we've brought him into the fold at BTP. Dan's experience in the organizations of Belle Tire, Mount Clemens Wolves, and Romeo High School Varsity Hockey program including the 2007-'08 season... and being named to the 2007-'08 "Aball Mac White First Team" and receiving Division 2 All-State Honorable Mention... highlights the fact that this experience has equipped Dan with the required hockey skill sets, along with strong personal and communication skills. Dan will be an active instructor and with the skill development provided by Senior Staffers Markowicz and Venet, Dan will eventually join their ranks as Senior Staff Goal Instructors
Rob Liddell Rob Liddell assisted BTP for one
Clinic in May 2007, while he was in Traverse City trying out for the North Stars Jr. A hockey team. We asked Rob if he’d like to carry on and we’re pleased that he decided to continue developing his coaching skills with us this summer. Rob has also spent the last two years coaching goaltenders in the Saint Clair Shores minor hockey association. Rob continues to receive his coaching from Danny Venet and Jeremy Kaleniecki , making him a perfect fit into our instructional program. A little of Rob’s hockey history includes his beginning his travel hockey career at age 13, playing Bantam AA for the Grosse Pointe Bulldogs. He then advanced on to play for the Midget A, USA Eagles for two years. The next two years were Midget AA, spent under the guidance of Tim Washburn and Dale Buss at Saint Clair Shores. Rob is working on his game this summer setting his sights on the Leamington Flyers Jr. B hockey club in the Western Ontario Hockey League, or the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies.
Justin Wyatt
Justin will join BTP this year as a Jr. Staff member. Justin has demonstrated a strong ability between the pipes as well as an interest in developing a coaching background. Playing for Dearborn this past season and reeiving the Scarborough Award for most outstanding goaltending travel division during the 2002-2003 season... posting a remarkable .941 GAA!
We look forward to Justin's participation both on and off the ice and anticipate positive playing and coaching development that will result in his moving up the ladder as a player and a staff member at BTP!
SHOOTERS
Steven Oleksy- Has been a member of the peewee AA Michigan Jaguars where they finished 3rd in the nation. Played for the Great Lakes Panthers they quickly captured an international silver stick championship in '99 and the very next year a National Title in 2000. He joined forces with the Metro Jets of the CSHL where he spent three season before jumping into the Junior A level with the Belle Tire Lightning of the CEHL. After a one year stint playing college baseball, he went back to play hockey. He captained the first year Traverse City North Stars team of the NAHL to the playoffs. He was the leading defenseman scorer on the team and finished tenth in the league. Now currently at Lake Superior State enjoying the success that his hard work and dedication to hockey has provided him.
P.J. Pinkerton, a 5’11” left handed defenseman from Edmond, OK comes to the ice with a great deal of hockey skill and knowledge. His career in the juniors has taken him to Toledo where he played for t he Cherokees of the CSHL … and to the east coast where he played for the Connecticut Whalers if the IJHL. While at Connecticut he earned accolades on and off the ice where as the team captain he received the IJHL Defenseman of the Year, Most points for a defenseman , was named to the IJHL All Star team and finally earned recognition for his off ice performance and named to the New England All Scholastic All Star team. P.J. played a short stint with the University of Oklahoma’s ACHA Division 1 team before going back to the Connecticut Whalers during the 2004-’05 season, and without skipping a beat transitioned back into academic pursuit at Eastern Michigan University. P.J. has been playing for EMU the last two seasons while he pursues his studies and degree.
A.J. Jensen
A.J. brings a wealth of player knowledge to Between the Pipes. He grew up playing in the hockey hot bed of Trenton Michigan. A.J. has found success at every level. He played for several state and national championship teams. After Helping Little Caesar’s to a National Title; A.J. returned to his high school to boost them to another state championship. He’s played two seasons in the CSHL for the Toledo Cherokee and then moved on to pursue his education at Eastern Michigan University, playing for their Division 1 team in the ACHA. A.J. has proven himself an excellent player of the game and will be playing the 2007-2008 hockey season in the Mid Atlantic Hockey League, Single A professional hockey league for the Wooster Warriors. Between his work ethic, skills, knowledge, and most of all, his well know personality, he will prove to be a very valuable asset to Between the Pipes. UPDATE: A.J. is currently in Wheeling, WV skating with the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers!
Scott Dornbrock Scott began with BTP clinic in the summer of 2007. Scott brings talent and skill to the BTP clinic. He’s played at the highest competitive level for his age group, playing for the Little Caesars AAA hockey club for over 3 years as defenseman. Scott's AAA experience forms the foundation of his knowledge and discipline of the game. Additionally, Scott’s played in many competitive tournaments throughout United States and Canada… including:

Brandon Bidus Brandon is a true convert, leaving the realm of roller hockey at the age of 13... trading wheels for steel! Waisting no time, Brandon tried out and made a special hand picked post season showcase/tournament team. Brandon decided that the ice is where he need to be so he went out for his high school team, making the JV team and selected as the JV Captain, he lead the division in points. Brandon made the varsity squad his junior year and again lead team, finishing second in the division in points. Brandon also broke school records inclding most goals in a game as a junior. Brandon's senior year responsibilities included being team captain... please note that since he transitioned to the ice he's been a team leader... (One reason we've added him to our staff!) Brandon's strong points include leadership, strong on ice vision and ability to read the play, and a super competitive streak!
